Netflix has taken action against three of its employees after they stormed an executive meeting.
According to Variety, the streaming giant suspended the trio last week during Netflix’s quarterly review meeting that hosts the company’s top 500 companies. One of the people reprimanded was Terra Field, a trans person who identifies as queer also, lambasted Dave Chappelle’s comedy special
The Closer.Field and the other two weren’t invited to the virtual meeting. Although Field wasn’t suspended for the inflammatory statements she made on Twitter, Netflix didn’t reprimand her for that. Now, the company is investigating the three employees.
A Netflix spokesperson addressed rumors that Field was punished for her critique of Chappelle’s commentary, telling the publication, “It is absolutely untrue to say that we have suspended any employees for tweeting about this show. Our employees are encouraged to disagree openly, and we support their right to do so.”
On Wednesday, Field took to Twitter to sound off about the comedian’s latest special.
“I work at @netflix. Yesterday we launched another Chappelle special where he attacks the trans community and the very validity of transness – all while trying to pit us against other marginalized groups. You’re going to hear a lot of talk about “offense”. We are not offended.”
Field hasn’t responded to the suspension.
