R&B powerhouse Ne-Yo requested “respect” and “privacy” on July 31, after infidelity allegations surfaced from his estranged wife, Crystal Renay Smith, via Instagram.
The “Mad” singer took to Twitter immediately following Smith’s July 30 Instagram post that accused him of cheating for eight years.
“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors,” he wrote.
He stated, “Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forms,” and asked the public to allow him and his family respect and privacy during their controversial time.
Before Ne-Yo’s tweet, Smith disclosed that the vocalist paid to have sex with numerous women, alleging every rendevouz was unprotected.
Ne-Yo and Smith began dating two weeks after meeting in 2015, and the two got married in 2016. Smith claimed their entire nearly eight years together were full of nothing but “lies and deception” and her “unknowingly sharing” her “life and husband” with promiscuous women.
“To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is a understatement,” she wrote in the Instagram post. “To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn’t.”
Smith continued by stating she “gained [three] beautiful children” from the “wasted” eight-year relationship and nothing else. She asked people to stop sending her “videos and information” regarding his cheating and claimed she wasn’t a victim.
The post concluded with her wishing the singer “nothing but the best” despite his alleged infidelity.
Ne-Yo’s request seemingly flew out of the window after he posted on his Instagram story a video saying, “Even if you hear a bad story about me, first understand there was a time I was good to those people, but they won’t tell you that.”
