Music Legend Tina Turner Honored By Mattel With Music Series Barbie

The doll is dressed like her 1984 Grammy-winning single “What’s Love Got To Do With It” video.

Eighty-two-year-old Tina Turner is being honored by the famed toy conglomerate Mattel with a Barbie made in her image.

Mattel posted the gorgeous doll to its site, which was released on October 13. 

The doll’s likeness celebrates the height of Turner’s illustrious career. It was designed by Bill Greening and is dressed like the singer dressed in her 1984 Grammy-winning single “What’s Love Got To Do With It” video.

Mattel’s site described the entertainer’s humble beginnings and her success.

She went from singing as a young girl in her rural church choir in Nutbush, Tennessee, to becoming the legendary performer hailed as the undisputed ‘Queen of Rock’ n Roll.’ Barbie celebrates the unprecedented music career and journey of Tina Turner.”

“She is a Grammy-winning, chart-topping singer and one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. This doll commemorates her smash hit ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It,’ and the design is inspired by the iconic outfit Tina wore in the music video.”

On Thursday, Turner announced the music series Barbie, using a play on words to honor her hit single “Simply The Best,” on her official Facebook page.

Turner’s post has garnered almost 30,00 likes and has been shared close to 5,000 times. The doll retails for $55 and can be purchased in stores and on Mattel’s official site.
