Michelle Obama Celebrates Her Mom Marian’s Birthday

She shared a heartfelt Twitter post.

Marian Shields Robinson, Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s mom turned 84 last month.

Mrs. Obama showed her appreciation in a Twitter post with a touching message. She tweeted a picture of her and her mom with the caption:

“Happy birthday to the woman who taught me how to think for myself, use my voice, and show up authentically in this world,” she began. “Your belief that I mattered, even when I was just a little girl, led me to where I am today. Thank you for being the ultimate role model. Love you, mom!”

Twitter users also wished Robinson a very happy birthday.

Marian Shields was born in Chicago in 1937. Shields married Fraser Robinson III on October 27, 1960, in Chicago. They had two children together, Craig Malcolm and Michelle LaVaughn.
While Michelle and Barack Obama campaigned for his candidacy as president in 2008, Robinson helped them by providing support to her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha Obama. During Barack Obama’s presidency, Robinson was living at the White House with the First Family.
