Michael K. Williams’ Nephew Describes The Moment He Discovered His Uncle’s Body: ‘He’s Gone. He’s Cold.’

He revealed the tragic details in a recent interview.

Lovecraft Country and The Wire star Michael K. Williams’ nephew, Dominic Dupont, described

the moment he discovered his uncle’s body saying, “He’s Gone. He’s Cold.”

According to reports, Dupont opened up about his shocking discovery on NAACP Image Award-winning actress, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hit Facebook show, Red Table Talk.

In the interview, he explained to Pinkett-Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, that he hadn’t heard from his uncle the day he died and decided to check on him.

“I went upstairs [and] opened up his door. It was quiet. Michael always played music. That wasn’t the case,” Dupont said. “I stuck my head in and said, ‘Uncle Mike, are you in here?’ And I observed him…deceased. I immediately called 911, and they said, ‘Listen, do you want to start some compressions?’ And I said, ‘I’m telling you … he’s deceased. He’s gone. He’s cold.”

The then-54-year-old actor was found

dead in his penthouse apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2021. Medical examiners ruled the incident as an accident.

Upon finding his uncle deceased, Dupont said he spoke to Williams’ publicist about the situation.

“I spoke to Michael’s publicist, and she said, ‘Dominic, this is gonna be on the news in like another hour, I’m telling you.’ I looked out his window and saw all the reporters, and I thought about the responsibility and my responsibility…to get the word out about how this doesn’t have to be you or your loved one.”

He added that Williams was “doing well” prior to his passing.

“Mike was doing well. He was working on a book. It did not appear to me that Mike was sliding back into addiction.”

On Feb. 2, four men were charged in connection to the Brooklyn native’s death. The men were charged for being part of the drug distribution group that sold narcotics to Williams after surveillance footage showed them giving him a lethal blend of drugs.

He overdosed shortly after purchasing heroin laced with fentanyl.
