Michael Jackson’s Nephew Responds To Harry Styles Being Dubbed The ‘New King Of Pop’

"There is no new King Of Pop," he said.

The iconic Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj Jackson, recently responded

to British singer Harry Styles being dubbed the “New King Of Pop,” and Black Twitter chimed in.

Taj responded to Harry being given the illustrious title in Rolling Stone UK via a very passionate Twitter post on Aug. 22. That day, the magazine unveiled Harry as their October/November cover star.

“There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did,” Taj said, quoting Rolling Stone UK’s initial tweet.

He added that the British artist should get his own title.

“Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired. No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title,” he said.

Naturally, Black Twitter caught wind of both Rolling Stone UK’s cover as well as Taj’s response and made it known that the magazine was out of pocket.

Out of anybody, they’re calling harry styles the “new” king of pop?” @voguessangel wrote.

“Rolling Stone (UK) calling Harry Styles the king of pop is a very bold move considering the most notable person to hold [that] title is michael jackson. how do you put michael jackson and harry styles on the same level with a straight face,” @kirkxxs wrote.

“No way they’re calling HARRY STYLES the new king of pop LMFAOOOOO,” @222corn said.

“That man quite literally jumps around on a stage in a sparkly polka dot outfit and suddenly he’s the “king of pop,'” @jd_occasionally tweeted.

“Well they shouldn’t have called him the ‘king of pop’ then. Very unserious shenanigans it’s like they hate him,” @BeeBabs said.

Harry nor Rolling Stone UK have commented on the backlash.

In other Michael news, Aug. 23 marked the day he held his fifth Dangerous Tour performance at Wembley Stadium in 1992.
