Michael Blackson ‘Free For All’ School In Home Country Of Ghana

"I’ve finally accomplished what I always wanted to do," he gushed in a Twitter post.

Internet comedian Michael Blackson is reportedly opened a “free for all” school in his home country, Ghana.

According to Ghanaweb.com, Blackson’s school, named the Michael Blackson Academy, is located in his original neighborhood, Agona Nsaba. It marks what he described as the most important achievement in his career so far.

“Today is the greatest day of my life because I’ve finally accomplished what I always wanted to do, which is giving these kids a chance to be great,” Blackson shared in a Twitter post on Jan. 4. “Greatness starts with education and foundational education shouldn’t come with financial barriers.”

The proud comedian showed up for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new school’s opening on Jan. 3. He showed off footage of the festivities via a heartfelt post on Instagram, which included speeches, live performances, a tour of the building, and other activities.

He additionally showed off Michael Blackson Academy via a heartfelt post on Instagram.

“I want our children to be able to dream big just like I did; School taught me discipline and built me a path to dream big,” he gushed before thanking America for giving him the opportunity to create the school. “Thank you, America, for giving me the opportunity to create this platform and providing me with the ability to strengthen my talents and to make such an impact that I am making today in order to bless my village with a free education.”

Blackson lived in Newark, New Jersey, then settled in Philadelphia after immigrating from his homeland to the U.S. during the 1980s. He began pursuing comedy after one of his co-workers at his former job, Domino’s, suggested that he start an open mic. The rest was history.

“Never a dull moment in Ghana,” he wrote in a recent IG post of him living his best life in his home country.
