Megan thee Stallion is putting a temporary hiatus on her music career and focusing on her well-being.
In an exclusive interview with InStyle, the Houston Hottie unveiled her decision to recuperate before releasing more hits.
“Fans can expect new music when I’m in a better place. I’m focused on healing,” the “Body” rapper said.
Megan’s decision to take a break is understandable, considering what she has gone through the past few years. In 2020, the rapper encountered the most traumatic experience when fellow rapper Tory Lanez reportedly pulled a gun on her and shot multiple times at her feet outside Kylie Jenner’s pool party in Hollywood Hills.
The Houston native had to relive those traumatic moments in court during Lanez’s trial. Now that he’s found guilty and Megan doesn’t have to deal with the trial, she wants to take time to heal, minus pressure from the music industry to make more hits.
“The music and entertainment industry can be a grind, so it’s important to take time off and avoid burning out,” she said. “Life is all about balance.”
When she says she’s taking a break from music, the musician means making new music, not performing. She’s reportedly making an appearance at Essence Fest and the LA Pride.
“Fans can expect new music when I’m in a better place, the three-time Grammy winner said. “Right now, I’m focused on healing.
That doesn’t mean the rapper won’t be collecting her coins in other ways.
Megan has been a global ambassador for the beauty brand Revlon and will focus on her partnership. Megan and Revlon collaborated to gift two lucky winners a trip to Miami, one of Megan’s favorite cities, for their #GetColoredStayed Getaway Sweepstakes (which included a partnership with TripAdvisor).
“Miami has a little bit of everything for everyone,” Megan shared. “If you want to turn up, the city has incredible spots for people to have a good time. If you want to just chill and enjoy the tropical weather, then you can either lay by the pool, relax on the beach, or vibe out on a boat with some friends.”
