A woman’s chance encounter with Snoop Dogg lookalike Eric Finch made her and her son the butt of Twitter’s jokes.
It all started with a tweet from Mat George, who was playfully annoyed that his mother met a celebrity in California before he did. Both assumed the man pictured with George’s mother was Snoop Dogg.
“I’ve been in LA for a year and haven’t seen a single celebrity. My mom comes for a weekend and meets Snoop Dogg,” George captioned the picture.
In reality, the man in the picture is Finch, a professional Snoop Dogg impersonator. The rest of Twitter swiftly corrected him.
“That’s must be his second cousin snoopy cause uhhhh,” wrote one person.
Even Snoop Dogg got in on the fun.
George was a little upset about the mistake and didn’t want to break the news to his moms.
“Can everyone stop saying it’s not Snoop Dogg? My mom’s gonna be heartbroken the next time she logs onto Twitter,” he pleaded.
“Who the hell is Eric Finch,” George asked in another tweet.
Finch currently resides in California and gets paid to play pretend. Outside of being Snoop’s doppelganger, he lives a regular life. A 2019 article from The Culture Trip revealed he worked as a warehouse worker and homeschooled his children when his wife was at work. Even though he isn’t the real Doggfather, he still experienced the pitfalls of fame.
“People would just surround us sometimes. It can be very hard and demanding,” he told the outlet. “You’re just like a celebrity, but you don’t get the pay.”
Nonetheless, he is a man of the people and appreciates his audience.
“I’ll take whatever comes,” Finch said. “It’s not about the fame and the fortune. It’s about something I enjoy doing. It’s breathtaking to me. There are no words that can even describe what it feels like to be an entertainer.”
