LSU Basketball Star Angel Reese Taking Online Classes Due To Popularity

She said that its no longer practical for her to be on campus following her rise to fame.

Louisiana State University basketball player Angel Reese got real in an interview with Teen Vogue about the downsides of her booming popularity. On August 23, Reese admitted that being an athletic celebrity has made it impractical and even unsafe for her to attend her LSU classes in person.

In an interview with Leah Faye Cooper, she conceded that it was completely unexpected that her fiery play in her championship run forced her to take online classes at LSU. “I didn’t think I was going to be on Shade Room every time I post something. I don’t feel like I’m a celebrity, but I think a lot of people look at me as a celebrity now because of the impact I’ve had on not just women’s basketball but sports in general and Black women. Things have changed for me,” Reese said.

“The Southern hospitality, that’s real. Down South, in Baton Rouge, they love me. I’m 17 hours away from home, but I never feel away from home.”

She continued to specify that “School’s first, basketball’s next. I wouldn’t be here without school and basketball, so that’s my priority.”I wouldn’t be here without school and basketball, so that’s my priority,” so continuing her education remotely was the best course of action for her to keep moving up on the court. Despite her focus on pursuing education at LSU, she confirmed to the outlet that she wanted to play in the WNBA. She’s regarded as having a good chance of being a #2 pick for the 2024 Draft, just behind superstar Caitlin Clark.

Reese attributes her success to her family. She said, “My mom is my rock. Everything I do is just for her and my brother.”

Reese has been famous in the media following her significant role in leading the LSU women’s basketball team to the national championship. Her hard work on the court directed her to be in commercials, award shows, magazines, big stages, and even the white house.
