Lover Or Brother: August Alsina Introduces The World To Zu During ‘The Surreal Life’ Confessional

August Alsina disclosed the person who taught him all about “love and healing” to the world on Monday during an episode of VH1’s The Surreal Life.

A clip of the 30-year-old singer’s confessional was posted on Twitter, where he opened up about how the show changed his life drastically, specifically showing him different facets of love.

The video showed a flashback where Alsina declared that he wanted limitless love.

“And then, what do you know, love showed up,” the “No Love” singer said during his confessional. “But in a new way. I want to share that and really honor the person that I love and that love me back and teaching me so much about love and healing. I want to do that in front of the world because it defies all the constructs that one would say love is supposed to be or love should look like.”

Alsina then motioned for someone to join next to him, and a fine man appeared in the shot, smiling shyly.

The two embraced each other while Alsina told him, “I love you.”

Photos of the singer rolled with his song, “Beautiful Way,” played in the background.

“August is happily shedding his old skin, in order to begin again,” words read on the screen. “He is practicing limitless self-love and healing his inner child.”

The man’s name is Zu, and while much isn’t known about him, it is known that Alsina referred to him as ZaZa, an emerging artist.

On Sept. 17, the singer pinned a video on Instagram of Zu and him performing in Washington, D.C.

The entire performance was uploaded on YouTube and showed Alsina’s complete set. Before getting off stage, the singer announced he wanted to perform a new song for the audience and said that his “twin,” referring to Zu, was in the building.

“I’m so inspired by him, man, he a dope…artist and we got a tape coming,” the 30-year-old told the audience. “So, we just going to run it for y’all one time.”

“2am,” Zu and Alsina’s song, played through the speakers while Zu hopped on stage and started his verse.

Alsina hasn’t said that the new artist is a lover, and many claimed the man is the singer’s brother. The two appeared in an Instagram video, wishing “Ma” a happy birthday claiming in the caption that “Ma” was his and Zu’s mother. However, it’s common for partners to claim each other’s parents as their own.
