Lights, Camera, Action! Rapper Snoop Dogg Has A Biopic In The Works

We can't wait to watch!

A biopic on rapper Snoop Dogg is on its way. It has been announced that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever co-writer Joe Robert Cole will work on the biopic with filmmakers and brothers Allen and Albert Hughes (Menace II Society and Dead Presidents).

Snoop will be involved with the film, working alongside the Hughes Brothers and producer Sara Ramaker (American Song ContestParkland RisingPierre the Pigeon-Hawk). The biopic will be the first film Death Row Pictures, run by Snoop and Ramaker, has done.

“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen and the memory I’m trying to leave behind,” Snoop said in a statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “It was the perfect marriage. It was a holy matrimony, not holy macaroni.”

Little is known about the upcoming film, from casting to the storyline. But it’s known that Snoop has been a part of the rap game for quite some time. Born on Oct. 20, 1971, in Long Beach, California, the West Coast rapper was named

Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. His mother was responsible for his stage name, calling him Snoopy because he looked like the Peanuts cartoon character to her.

After graduating high school, Snoop turned to music to avoid the trouble he endured while being associated with the Rollin’ 20 Crips Gang. His collaboration with fellow rapper Dr. Dre on the song “Deep Cover” contributed to his success. He released albums like “Doggystyle” and “The Doggfather,” which climbed the charts and gained popularity with fans.

The California rapper then started going into acting, appearing in films like Starsky & HutchTraining Day and The Wash. He had a 2007 reality show on E! called Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.”

The rapper earned himself an American Music Award and a Primetime Emmy award. Although he has received 17 Grammy nominations, he has never won one.

With his music and acting career, Snoop has ventured into the cannabis, technology, and food and beverages business.
