LeVar Burton Endorses Ryan Reynold’s Gin After Jeopardy! Score

We'll take "Ching Ching" on the rocks for $800, LeVar!

Celebrities-they’re just like us! Just like us, Ryan Reynolds recognizes royalty. Reynolds took to Twitter on Thursday in praise of the man we all love, legend LeVar Burton after Jeopardy! Finally, gave the people what they wanted.

“Officially starting the @levarburton for literally everything campaign,” the actor tweeted. He then posted a video of a commercial that Burton sat for advertising Reynold’s Aviation Gin beverage line. Towards the end of the hilarious ad, Reynolds recognized how iconic LeVar is. “Now that man is a god damn national treasure, and he’s probably too good for this,” Ryan said humorously.

The announcement came after Burton was selected to be a guest host on Jeopardy! Fans of the man who helped us either love or learn to read on his ‘80s television program Reading Rainbow almost immediately called for him to replace late host Alek Trebek. Trebek passed away of pancreatic cancer last November after hosting the show for 37 seasons.

Besides being an icon and child literacy advocate, Burton is an actor that boasts such credits as the original ABC miniseries Roots, where he masterfully played the role of Kunta Kinte and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He has won multiple Daytime Emmys, a Grammy, and several literary awards as well. After more than 200,000 signatures on an online petition, LeVar and his fans have gotten their wish.

THANK YOU… to all y’all for your passionate support! I am overjoyed, excited, and eager to be guest-hosting Jeopardy,” Burton tweeted.

He is slated to close out season 37 behind sportscaster Joe Buck.

Jeopardy! producers have been on a hunt for a permanent replacement for Trebek since his death last year. Until then, the show has used various celebrities to fill the gap.

Our passionate fans are telling us what they like, and we are listening,” executive producer Mike Richards said.
