Kenan Thompson And Kel Mitchell Reveal ‘Good Burger 2’ Is In The Works

"It's gonna happen," Kenan insisted.

Veteran comedian and actors Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell recently revealed that the cult ’90s film Good Burger 2 is in the works.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Kenan revealed that the long-awaited Good Burger sequel is on the way. The cult classic movie originally dropped in 1995 and grossed over $23.7 million.

“We’re getting really close on Good Burger 2. It’s gonna happen, and I think it’s gonna happen soon,” he said at TheGrio Awards on Oct. 23. “We’re gonna figure out when the pocket of time will be to shoot it, but it’s gonna happen.”

The comedian added that “It’s closer than it’s ever been. So, I don’t think anything is gonna derail it. We had a reading, like a little private thing just to hear the script that we’ve been working on, out loud–just with a couple [of] friends and a couple [of] people from Paramount and Nickelodeon, and it was so funny.”

The following day, on Oct. 24, Kel shared an Instagram video of the movie’s alleged script along with his song, “Blessed Mode” (2022).

“Now we’re cooking! [bowl and burger emojis] table read went really good! Good vibes! Good Laughs, Good Burgers!” he wrote about the film in his post’s caption.

Kenan also discussed Kel’s post saying, “Kel has not missed a step. It’s like old slippers, and that character is just ripe for jokes. We read like, over 100 pages and laughed the whole time. It was so much fun. It’s on and crackin’. That’s all I can say.”

The duo had a hilarious Good Burger reunion of their own when Thompson hosted the 2022 Emmy Awards in September. During an interlude, he headed to a bar where Kel surprised him and asked for a “good burger” and then embraced and laughed with each other.

Kenan and Kel made their acting debuts back in the early ’90s on the hit Nickelodeon variety show, All That

. They then went on to have a joint series, Kenan & Kel, which stole the hearts of many–especially the ’90s generation of children and teens.
