Kanye West Sued Over Unauthorized Use Of Boogie Down Productions’ ‘South Bronx’

BDP claims Kanye made millions from the song's use.

Award-winning rapper Kanye West has been sued over the unauthorized use of Boogie Down productions’ “South Bronx” song.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Boogie Down Productions has alleged that Ye illegally sampled the 1987 BDP song, “South Bronx.” Theclaims he had done so for the DONDA bonus track on his Stem Player, titled, “Life Of The Party” (2021).

Boogie Down Productions, founded by legendary rapper KRS-One and DJ Scott La Rock in 1986, owns the copyright to the diss track. The company alleged that Kanye generated over $2.2 million from the Stem Player through the use of the unlicensed record. They also noted that Ye’s team reached out to try to license it prior.

“Life Of The Party” was initially leaked by award-winning rapper Drake featuring Andre 3000 in 2021. Drizzy and Ye were reportedly at odds with each other, as the DONDA rapper allegedly threw shots at the “Sticky” musician. However, the two seemingly worked out their differences as they both performed at a free concert in Los Angeles.

Now, Boogie Down Productions is seeking to block any further use of “South Bronx” and wants Kanye to pay the money he generated from it.

In other Ye news, hall of fame athlete Shaq recently clapped back at him for questioning his business practices amid a heated Twitter exchange.

As reported by Sis2Sis, Shaq quoted

and responded to one of Ye’s Twitter posts, in which the rapper aired out his business endeavors to the public.

“Believe me. You don’t know me like that. Worry about your business, and to quote the once great Kanye West ‘I got more money than you, so why would I listen to you take my advice get your family business in order,” the NBA Hall of Famer tweeted during the exchange on Nov. 3.
