Kandi Burruss, Marlo Hampton Had ‘Explosive’ Fight While Filming ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’

"It wasn't like it was intentional. It wasn't planned," Burruss said.

Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton had an “explosive” fight while filming season 14 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

“Marlo, first of all, me and her bumped heads,” Burruss, 45, confirmed during an exclusive interview with Page Six. “Child, she was throwing peaches at people!”

The Bravo series has entertained fans in nearly every episode for the past 13 seasons. However, the new season of RHOA will include Hampton, 46, a full-time “Housewife” after losing two peaches, Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey.

For ten seasons, Hampton has been a longtime fan favorite as the highly fashionable and drama-filled friend on the reality franchise. Now that she’s been promoted and finally receives her peach, Burruss was surprised at what started the heated exchange since she pushed for Hampton to be on the show for years.

“I was like, ‘Of all people, why is she coming for me?’” Burruss said as she laughed after revealing that she fought for Hampton’s promotion. “Like, we’re supposed to be on the same page! I don’t even know what happened.”

The Atlanta native has appeared on RHOA since 2009’s season 2 and says she doesn’t understand what led to the onscreen incident with Hampton.

“It wasn’t like it was intentional. It wasn’t planned. One thing led to another, and it was just explosive. It went out of control,” Burruss said of the scuffle, adding that she and Hampton were verbally taking shots at each other  that “hit below the belt.”

“[We were] saying some really mean things to each other, let’s just say that.” she elaborates. “I don’t even know how they’re going to edit it to be clean because it was terrible.”

Though the two “didn’t make physical threats” toward each other during the verbal altercation, their harsh words were enough to leave a lasting impact.

“We really just talked back to each other, let’s just say [that],” she teases. “Tearing down everything you could tear down, it was just terrible.”

Since then, the castmates mended their friendship after season 14’s onscreen brawl. In addition, Hampton recently supported Burruss by attending the premiere party of the singer’s new show Kandi & the Gang at the Old Lady Gang restaurant in Atlanta, Page Six reported.

“We’re cool now,” Burruss says. “But there was a moment where I wondered how we were going to come back from the fight.”

Burruss told the outlet that she’s excited for fans to see Hampton’s growth in the upcoming season.

“I have to give her credit. She brought her mom on the show, and we already know she’s talked about her struggles with her mother, so to be able to see her mom finally, that was a big deal to me,” Burruss explained.

“It was a whole bunch of stuff going on [with Hampton].”

While The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 14 premiere date has yet to be announced, Kandi & the Gang airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
