Kamala Harris Is The First Vice President To Be Honored With A Madame Tussauds Wax Figure

She will be a part of the museum's "Oval Office" exhibition.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and no business knows that better than Madame Tussauds, a London-based wax museum known for its realistic wax figures and busts. Over the years, artists at the world-renowned museum have been tasked with recreating true-to-life replicas of celebrities like Britney Spears and Rihanna. Making history, Madame Tussauds is currently working on a wax figure for Kamala Harris, the first vice president (VP) in history to receive the honor.

Harris’ figure will be displayed at Madame Tussauds’ New York City location and featured in Times Square, CNN reported. The New York museum is known for its figures of the U.S. presidents, but Harris will be the first vice president in the building. David Burks, the main sculptor on the project, will be working with a team of artists in London to bring the figure to life.

We were keen to focus on her smile and the warmth in her eyes. It’s that twinkle in the eye that’s so hard to capture… a genuine warmth that’s really important to get into our figures,” Burks

told CNN about the process.

Gold jewelry and pearls will be placed on the VP’s wax figure, which Harris is known to accessorize her outfits with. The figure will also rock cufflinks engraved with “U.S. Senator,” and will also have a lapel of the American flag.

Sculptors are also working on a bust for newly-elected President Joe Biden, who was formerly a vice president. According to CNN, Madame Tussauds will

recreate his Inauguration Day attire, complete with a lavender tie and a blue Ralph Lauren suit. Both statues will be a part of the museum’s “Oval Office” exhibition.

Though it took the artist team six weeks to finish Harris’ bust, sculptors won’t finish the full wax figure until later this year.
