Jennifer Hudson’s Ex-Fiancé Auctions Off Her Engagement Ring 5 Years After They Separated

The sparkler has been reported to have an estimated retail value of $45K.

Grammy and Oscar Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson’s ex-fiancé, lawyer and WWE commentator David Otunga auctioned off her engagement ring five years after they separated.

According to reports, Otunga teamed up with jewelry resale site IDoNowIDont.com to sell the five-carat cushion-cut Neil Lane diamond ring.

“This is Jennifer Hudson’s actual engagement ring she wore during her ten-year engagement to wrestler David Otunga,” its VIP listing on IDoNowIDont.com has indicated. “Otunga commissioned Neil Lane to design the one-of-a-kind bauble for Ms. Hudson. This is the same ring Ms. Hudson wore when she received her Grammy Award from the late Whitney Houston. This engagement ring received a significant amount of press and is frequently listed as one of the most stunning and sought-after celebrity engagement rings.”

Initially priced at $80,000, the diamond ring has been reported to have an estimated retail value of $45,000. A portion of proceeds from its sale would go to the Otunga’s father’s organization, the Moses Otunga Foundation, which has provided

help to vulnerable children in Kenya. His dad was originally born and raised in the East African nation.

The 41-year-old proposed to Hudson with the sparkler in September 2008 after dating her for a year. In August 2009, they had a son, David Otunga Jr. However, the pair never officially married, and she returned her ring to him after they separated in 2017.

The RESPECT star and her former beau had a nasty split, as she said she was “living in fear” due to Otunga’s allegedly aggressive behavior towards her and her son. As such, she was granted

an order of protection against him.

However, it was dropped shortly after.

Recently, Hudson announced that she scored her own talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show, which is set to replace The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Warner Bros. will be producing The Jennifer Hudson Show alongside Hearst and FOX Television.
