"Come be my Kardashian, queen of the come up,” he said in the new DMX collab.

Jay-Z often steps back from the music scene to focus on his business ventures and family, so when the Bed-Stuy-born rapper drops a verse, it’s sure to get attention. But this time, HOV’s lyrics sparked a different kind of conversation when he referred to reality television star Kim Kardashian as the “Queen of the Come Up” in a newly-released DMX collaboration.

In “Bath Salts,” a song on DMX’s posthumous album

Exodus that also features Nas, Jay-Z says,I’m the King of Zamunda, uh, King of the Summer (Woo) / Come be my Kardashian, Queen of the Come Up.”

Needless to say, Black Twitter had their opinions, with many fans unsure of how to feel about the line.

Claiming that Jay-Z appeared to be throwing shade at the E! Network star, one fan tweeted,Come be my Kardashian – Queen of the come up” Jay-Z messssyyyyy.”

“How you with Beyoncé and you big up a K*rd*shian,” someone else tweeted about the controversial “Bath Salts” verse.

Another fan wrote in defense of Jay-Z’s “wordplay,” tweeting, “The fact that they’re talking about Jay-Z bashing Kim K is hilarious…like y’all don’t know wordplay? If you don’t get it, just say that.

Due to Jay-Z having a former friendship and business relationship with Kardashian’s now-estranged husband, Kanye West, the two were often seen attending the same events. He and wife

Beyoncé opted to skip the couple’s 2014 nuptials, leading some fans to suspect a rift between the Carters, Kardashian and West.
