Hip-hop icon Jay-Z provided what he deemed the correct response to the debate: lunch with the rapper or $500,000. The multifaceted legend advised fans not to pass on a bag.
CBS Mornings host Gayle King asked the mogul for his input on the online debate in a small clip of the show’s two-part interview with the legend that will air on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 26 and 27. The debate had online users deciding between lunch with Jay-Z and $500,000 in cash.
Jay-Z encouraged the world to snatch the cash. He acknowledged that people would choose to share a meal with him to obtain a valuable lesson but said it was a waste, considering all his wisdom was in his music.
“You gotta take the money,” the “Run This Town” rapper commented.
King explained why people would choose lunch with him, and Jay-Z responded.
“You got all that in the music for $10.99,” he said. “That’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal. Take the $500,000, go buy some albums and listen to the albums. It’s all there. If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there.”
He continued, “Everything that I said was going to happen, happened. Everything that I said I wanted to do, I’ve done. There’s the blueprint. The blueprint, literally, to me and my life and my journey.”
Internet users took to X for their two cents on the rapper’s response.
