Jada Pinkett-Smith To Release ‘No Holds Barred’ Memoir About Life And Marriage To Will Smith

Award-winning talk show host and veteran actress Jada Pinkett-Smith will reportedly release a “no holds barred” memoir about her life and marriage to Will Smith.

According to People, the Red Table Talk creator is set to publish the currently unnamed memoir with Dey Street Books in the fall of 2023. In the book, Jada will reportedly chronicle “lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey–a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power,” a press release stated.

In the soon-to-be-titled book about her life, Jada will also reportedly detail her rough upbringing in Baltimore, Maryland.

“With no holds barred, Jada reveals her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore–from the child of two addicts to a promising theatre student and a violent interlude as a petty drug dealer–followed by a parallel rise to stardom alongside her close friend 2Pac, then falling in love with and marrying Will Smith, and a joyous embrace of motherhood,” the press release said.

The 51-year-old will additionally reveal her “crisis at age 40” and “[recount] the excruciating choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way.” These moments reportedly include her marriage to Oscar Award-winning actor and rapper Smith.

“At the heart of this powerful book,” the memoir’s description said, “are two unexpected love stories, one being Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, the other being the one with herself.”

The announcement of Jada’s book arrived just months after Will smacked the fire out of Emmy Award-winning comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscar Awards ceremony. Sis2Sis reported that he had done so in retaliation after Chris joked about Jada’s bald head, which is due to the severe scalp condition of alopecia. The Baltimore native called for the two legendary entertainers to call a truce during a Jun. 1 episode of Red Table Talk

, but Chris wasn’t interested. Despite the controversy surrounding her family, she’s been busy filming and promoting her hit Facebook series, among other things.

“The world has imposed many labels and narratives on Jada Pinkett Smith. This is down to the realities of our media landscape, but also the roles thrust upon women by culture,” the Dey Street Books VP and editorial director, Carrie Thornton, wrote. “At the center of all the speculation and false stories is a woman who, like so many women, has had to reconcile her personhood with the needs of those she loves. This memoir is Jada giving the world her truth, taking readers on a journey from lost girl to woman warrior. It is my great honor to take that journey with her.”
