"I feel like...commercially, they're giving us a lot of fire moments," J. Cole said.

The Central Intelligence actor asked

Cole about his thoughts on today’s generation of rappers. Cole admitted that the new age of rap was in a different ball game and credited female rappers for changing the game.

“I think it’s fire. It’s a whole different ball game,” he said. “Like a whole different crop of young superstars and styles. I think, to me, the…I’ve been feeling like this for maybe a year or two. I hate to say it almost because it sounds like pandering, but I’m like, ‘Man, that’s a lot of fire female rappers.'”

Hart assured him that his statement wasn’t pandering.

“Yeah, I feel like they doing some of the most exciting, commercially, they’re doing some of the most exciting…they’re giving us a lot of fire moments. I feel like that’s something that wasn’t around when we was growing up.”

J. Cole added that when female rappers like Lil Kim, Eve and Foxy Brown reigned, he felt there couldn’t be multiple substantial moments. But now, J. Cole feels today’s women rappers have paved the way for their kind to shine concurrently.

Another rapper that has voiced J. Cole’s thoughts is Latto. In 2022, Latto did an interview at Billboard’s Music Con, where she gave props to female rappers.

“I’m one of the biggest advocated for [women in hip hop],” Latto said. “Y’all need to put some respect on the female rapper’s names. To get to where we are and then a male to get to where he is…baby, all shade, all tea, we got to go 10 times harder, so I think it’s progressing.”

She added that female rappers today have it easier than the females before them.
