Ice-T Receiving Well-Deserved Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Rapper and actor Ice-T (born Tracy Lauren Marrow) is finally getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Feb. 17.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the rapper’s latest honor this week, noting that the Law & Order actor will be the recipient of the organization’s 2,747th star.

“Ice-T is a cultural icon and a success both in the music and television industries,” Ana Martinez, the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said, adding, “Ice’s star will be situated near the stars of music greats such as Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Luciano Pavarotti, Mama Cass Elliott, John Denver, Herbie Hancock to name a few.”

The ceremony’s emcee is the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chair, Lupita Sanchez Cornejo. Guest speakers include fellow rapper Chuck D, Law & Order castmate Mariska Hargitay and producer Dick Wolf.

Ice-T gave his thoughts about him getting inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, tweeting, “When I think about how many times I got arrested in Hollywood….. This is a trip.”

Ice-T has been in the entertainment industry for over three decades, starting his career as a rapper, releasing well-known hits like “6 ‘n the Mornin’,” “I’m Your Pusher,” “Midnight” and “Cop Killer.” Amid his rap career, ice-T worked appeared in motion pictures Breakin’

and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.

The rapper was also known for blending rap with rock, forming a metal band, Body Count. He firmly believed the two genres were similar because they carried a hardcore edge and were outlawed music.

He and Body Count would eventually win a 2021 Grammy for their song “Bum Rush.”

In 2000, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fans were introduced to his character, Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, who would stay on for over 20 seasons, earning

Ice-T the title of the longest-running male actor in a television series. The Detective Tutuola role landed him an NAACP Image award.

Ice-T also starred in Exiled: A Law & Order Movie, but besides the franchise, the rapper was also in New Jack City, Trespass, Ricochet and Saturday Night Live.

The ceremony will take place on Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at 7065 Hollywood Boulevard.
