‘Heaven Help Me’ Singer and George Michael’s Bassist, Deon Estus, Passed Away At Age 65

British rock group Wham!’s and George Michael’s bass player, Deon Estus, has died. The news was shared on social media. 

The Detroit-born singer’s Twitter account posted that he passed on Sunday, writing, “It is with real sadness I post that Deon Estus passed away This Morning. Deon was mostly known as the third member of Wham! Deon was passionate about music and loved interacting with his loyal fans.”

 

Estus’ lover Brenda Kaye Pearce took to Facebook to express her sadness and love for her beau.

“On Sunday, October 10, 2021. Deon Estus – Bassist, Songwriter, Singer, Producer (George Michael/Wham, Marvin Gaye, Switch) etc. My dearest, closest partner and significant other of 4 years transitioned, and all I can remember is our last conversation the day before. My heart will need time to heal. R.I.P. Deon. Love you forever.”

Estus’ esteemed music career is extensive. He has played as a session singer and bassist with industry-heavy hitters like Elton John, Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye, Frank Zappa and George Clinton. He also sang in the church choir while growing up in Detroit.  

The talented artist’s most notable work was his 1989 R&B hit single “Heaven Help Me.”
