Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s Gay Mother, Got Married To Longtime Partner

Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother, is now married. She and her wife, Roxanne Wilshire, sealed their long-term commitment in a spectacular wedding ceremony in New York City on July 2.

The elaborate Fourth of July weekend event in Tribeca, which finished late at 1 a.m., was attended by celebrities and others from the entertainment sector.

Tyler Perry, Corey Gamble, Kelly Rowland, and Robin Roberts were among those that attended Gloria’s wedding.

Beyoncé and her eldest kid, Blue Ivy, attended. The singer was dressed in a peach dress with a pink-feathered shrug and carried a matching heart-print purse. Blue Ivy wore a slimming turquoise-like outfit, and she dressed conservatively in compared to her mother.

Similarly, grandma Tina was dressed elegantly in a green silk gown.

Jay-Z, who was in the spotlight for Gloria, looked dapper in a blue tailored suit and ties.

In 2017, Jay-Z released the album “4:44,” which included the song “Smile,” where he revealed that his mother had come out as a lesbian. The song expresses his love and support for her, and it received widespread acclaim for its honesty and acceptance of LGBTQ+ identity.

It is unknown when Jay-Z discovered his mother was a lesbian, but the rapper has spoken publicly about his mother’s sexual orientation in interviews and in his songs, implying that he became aware of her being homosexual at some point in his children.

One notable interview was with David Letterman on his Netflix series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” in 2018.

In that interview, Jay-Z opened up about his mother’s journey and how it influenced his own views on LGBTQ+ issues.

Additionally, he has referenced his mother’s sexuality and their evolving relationship in interviews with outlets such as The New York Times and the Rap Radar podcast. While the specific moment of realization may not be explicitly mentioned, Jay-Z has discussed his mother’s sexual orientation and their journey of understanding and acceptance.

Another song where Jay-Z touches on his mother’s orientation is “Legacy,” also from the “4:44” album.

In the song, the Brooklyn rapper reflects on his family legacy and how his mother’s experiences have shaped him. While he does not explicitly mention her sexuality, the song acknowledges the challenges she faced and the strength she demonstrated.
