French Montana Tells Hilarious Story of Akon Gifting Him A Fake Luxury Watch For His Birthday

Fresh from going viral on social media after being trolled about his catalog, rapper French Montana has made it back into the news after revealing that his rich homie Akon allegedly gifted him a fake luxury watch on his birthday. 

The “Unforgettable” rapper chopped it up with DJ Akademiks about the incident on October 27.

The video on IG was captioned with a laughing emoji, “Akon once gifted French Montana a fake watch.”

French goes on to explain what happened. 

“He had given me a Hublot so it wasn’t iced out. And you know, I like sh*t with diamonds on it, so I took it to my jeweler. I was like, ‘Yo, can you switch this for me? Akon gave it to me for my birthday.’ He looked at me and was like, ‘What you mean? Akon did not give you this, my guy.’”

French, not knowing why his baller friend would give him a fake timepiece, thought the jeweler was joking. He even pondered if the “Locked Up” singer had been hustled. 

“So I call him and said, ‘Kon, my jeweler said this is fake. Say it ain’t so.’ He was like, ‘What?! Let me call the jeweler,’” French recalled.

He admitted he was still waiting on Akon to call him back.

 

For those who may not be familiar with Akon, the entertainer turned mogul is rich– and not just hood rich. We’re talking long money and he’s worth a cool $80 million. To compare, French’s net worth is $22 million. 

Although he was born in St. Louis, the multi-millionaire is of Senegalese descent. He lived between both countries. Akon earned his riches from philanthropy and music. 

While we know French is still waiting for an answer about his watch, we’d hate to know Akon is out here doling out fake gifts.
