Eve Credits ‘Queens’ Co-Stars Naturi Naughton & Brandy With Supporting Her Pregnancy During Filming

The 42-year-old rapper discovered her pregnancy in the midst of filming the series.

The week before the series premiere of Queens, rapper-actress Eve announced to fans that she would soon be welcoming her first child with her husband, Maximillion Cooper.

According to Essence, the 42-year-old mother-to-be discovered her pregnancy around the same time she was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles and film the new ABC series. In an inspiring display of sisterhood, the “Tambourine” rapper reportedly detailed how co-stars Naturi Naughton and Brandy supported her throughout filming and even spoke up for her when she was feeling too tired on set.

Mothers Naughton and Brandy were able to use their past pregnancy experiences to help Eve navigate hers. Talking to Essence about her supportive friendship with her co-stars, Eve said, “Honestly, it’s so nice to be on set with women who are in this business. Naturi, specifically, had been filming Power while she was pregnant with her daughter, Zuri, and so she gave me lots of advice and Brandy as well. Brandy, she’s such a sweetheart. I love them both.”

Revealing that both Brandy and Naughton spoke up for her during filming, the Barbershop actress added, “Sometimes on set if I was really tired, Naturi would speak up for me and so would Brandy, like, ‘C’mon guys, you know she’s pregnant.’ That was really nice to have people who understood my position.”

Queens, which stars Eve alongside Naughton, Brandy and Nadine Velazquez of My Name Is Earl fame, centers around four women who performed in a popular hip-hop group decades prior. The series follows their individual lives and personal drama as they work together again and secure their spot back into the limelight.

Sharing similarities with her Queens character Brianna, aka Professor Sex, she shared with the New York Post last week, “The parallels are real. I do come from that time in hip-hop, late ’90s into the 2000s,” adding, “I’m now married with four bonus kids and one on the way. So it’s kinda crazy but also kinda cool to play, ’cause I definitely pulled from my life for certain things when it comes to Brianna. But it was also nice to find who she was and what her voice was.”

Fans can catch new episodes of Queens this fall on ABC, showing Tuesdays at 10/9c.
