Eddie Murphy says that Martin Lawrence is paying

for a lavish wedding if their kids decide to tie the knot. In response to some playful banter about who would write the check for Jasmin Lawrence and Eric Murphy to get married when the time came. In an interview with the Canadian outlet Etalk at the beginning of this month, Murphy, 61, laid it out for Lawrence, 57.

“That’s not how it goes,” Murphy said, “My daughter just got married

, and I had to pay — really had to pay,” he said, suggesting that the bride’s father should pay for the ceremony. He continued, “You have to do the same, Martin.”

“Don’t try to switch it up — don’t try to change no s***, do no Hollywood switch. You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying, and the wedding better be wonderful.”

The interview section responded to Lawrence joking around during a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance that he would try to get Murphy to pay for it. According to PEOPLE, he first specified that they tried not to meddle in their children’s love life. Lawrence said, “We haven’t talked about it. We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing and respect their thing.”

He also joked that his daughter Jasmin might end up conceiving a “comedy super baby,” so he’d expect Murphy to be in charge of it. “I’m gonna try to get Eddie to pay for it.”

Jasmin and Eric announced their super cute relationship on social media two years ago, as reported by Sis2Sis, and it took the internet by storm.
