Desus And Mero Reportedly Split Over Their ‘A**hole’ Manager Victor Lopez’s Toxic Work Behavior

The Bodega Boys and Lopez had had a longstanding relationship.

Amid the news of Desus and Mero’s split, the real reason for the show’s demise has finally come to light.

On July 21, PUCK spilled the exclusive tea, and it’s a drama-filled combination of toxicity in the workplace, excessive loyalty and doing the right thing. The publication reported that five different sources revealed Victor Lopez was banned from the Desus & Mero set and meetings at Showtime network because he allegedly showed his a** to staff members after the Thanksgiving holiday. The anonymous sources said staffers were subjected to bullying and abuse by Lopez.

Desus Nice reportedly supported Lopez’s ban from their successful series and set. Still, Mero took unwarranted loyalty to another level by holding Lopez and his toxicity down to the disappointment of his Bronx comrade. The Bodega Boys and Lopez had had a longstanding relationship. The 39-year-old Dominican comedian axed the duo’s agent, Christina Bazdekis, and attorney, Victoria Cook– opting to sign with William Morris Endeavor agency and be represented by Ziffren Brittenham.

Desus & Mero fans reacted to the news on Twitter, applauding Desus, 41, for standing up for what was right.

One of the producers who lost his job shut down folks looking for “tea,” writing, “Y’all need to stop asking me shit about Desus & Mero. I’m a grown-ass man with two children and a mortgage, and IDK if y’all forgot, but I’m out of a fucking job right now. I’m not in the business of “tea,” and I’m not fueling an already heavily speculative conversation.”

Sis2Sis reported after the show’s wrap on June 23; that Mero took to the internet to fire off shots, letting fans know their run was done on July 12.

NAH, ITS A WRAP, BRODY. SOMEBODY MENTIONED DUDE TWEETING THAT FROM SOME COUNTRY AT LIKE 3 AM. I TOURED W DUDE FOR YEARS; HE WAS FUBAR AND IN HIS BAG. PODCAST DONE. ENJOY THE BACK CATALOG MY PALS.”

Desus, seemingly, trying to keep the peace and not be messy, told fans he “tried.”

Desus has moved on to bigger and better things. The Bronx comedian hosted an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live to fans’ delight at his own show came to a close.

“It’s about to be a hot summer ???,” he posted about the invitation to host the popular late-night talk show.

We hope the rest of the crew members have equal success in their next endeavors.
