Clout Chasers: Benzino Calls Out DJ Khaled, Kevin Hart & Funk Flex

"Now, these n*ggas act like I’m a stranger," he said

Rapper Benzino has accused Kevin Hart, DJ Khaled Funk Flex of using him and The Source, a magazine he co-founded for clout.

On Thursday, in a series of tweets, the 57-year-old rapper, whose real name is Ray Scott, claimed that Hart, 43, and Khaled, 47, used his connections and influence at The Source to further their own careers but then later acted as if they had no relationship with him.

“It’s funny how when I owned the Source & EP’d the Source Awards I gave a lot these guys, who are successful, a major platform & some even a bag, but when I fell, they all act like they don’t me, I just smile how they big ‘celebrities’ now, back then needed my platform & helped them,” he wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Benzino claimed radio personality Funkmaster Flex, 54, used him for clout.

“I remember Dj Khalid dying to dj the Source Awards & to be in the magazine & I made it happen, or Kevin Hart wanting to host & I made it happen,” Benzino tweeted. “Funkmaster Flex another 1, I let him Dj, Now these niggas act like I’m a stranger, people don’t gaf. They use u with no reciprocation.”

Benzino continued, “I’m sorry, I seen these guys when they had nothing, they didn’t act the way they act now. I got more respect for these young N*ggas in the game, at least they looking out for they people. D*mn you can’t bring the money with you when you go.”

The Love & Hip Hop star has faced several scandals over the years, adding to his fall from fame. However, Benzino’s accusations have sparked a heated debate on social media, with some people coming to the defense of Hart, Funk and Khaled and others expressing support for Benzino.

One user responded to the tweet saying, “Just cause you helped them once doesn’t mean [you’re] entitled to the fruits of their labor for the rest of your life, they’re not where [they’re] at because of being on your show one time, they’re where they are because of the work they put it to reach that height.”

Another wrote, “These dues get amnesia like they always was there. Karma will be right there when they start falling. Growing pains. family”

It remains to be seen how the situation will play out, but it is clear that Benzino feels a sense of betrayal.
