Chrisean Rock Gives Back To Her Home Church In Maryland, ‘God Laid It On My Heart’

Despite her wild side, Chrisean Rock shared her humble flank when she gave back to her home church in Maryland on Sunday.

In a video posted on Rock’s Instagram page and The Shade Room, the “Vibe” star stood on stage holding in her emotions alongside the Spirit of Faith Christian Center’s pastor, Dr. Mike Freeman, and reminisced about the time he introduced a young and hungry Rock to manners and blessed her with “McDonald’s money” using the church tithes.

She explained that young Rock didn’t understand faith at the time but could feel God’s presence. Although she didn’t understand why churchgoers gave offerings to the Lord, she knew it was the Word of God.

Young Rock wanted to partake in giving tithes but had nothing to give. That’s when a man offered her a $5 bill, and she walked to the alter to put it in the plate, knowing she could’ve used it to end her hunger with a trip to McDonald’s.

Before she could return to her seat, Dr. Freeman stopped her, gave her a short lesson on manners and handed her “all the seeds” the church sowed that day. Dr. Freeman asked Rock about her intentions with the money, and she said she wanted to pay her tithes.

“It was like a clear understanding,” an emotional Rock said. “And I couldn’t explain what it was. But it was beautiful. I’ve always been a cheerful giver.”

She then began to dig in her pocket, and Dr. Freeman asked her what she was trying to pull out, “Don’t be digging in
I got mine, too.”

The 23-year-old pulled a wad of cash out and handed it to the pastor.

“Chrisean,” Dr. Freeman exclaimed as she handed him the money the same way he gave it to her when she was younger. “Wait a minute!”

The church band started to build the music, intensifying the moment. Chrisean turned away, balling her eyes out.

“Are you kidding me? Girl, are you sure?” The pastor asked. Chrisean confirmed and said it was what the Lord put on her heart, and she would be obedient.

Dr. Freeman suggested the cash could be her tithes and offering, but Chrisean said she had already paid her dues and the cash was simply money in her pocket.

“This is just cash in your pocket?” Usually, Black folks respond with “n***a,” but the pastor gave a sanctified version of it, “African American!”

Under Chrisean’s video, Dr. Freeman wrote, For We Walk By Faith and Not By!! Sight! See What You Do Not See, Till You See It, You See?”
