Chadwick Boseman’s ‘Black Panther’ Suit To Be Displayed At NMAAHC For Upcoming Exhibit

Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther suit is set to be displayed at the National Museum Of African American History And Culture (NMAAHC) in an upcoming exhibit.

According to NMAAHC’s official Instagram page, the suit will be displayed at their upcoming exhibition, “Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures.” The exhibition will take place at the Bank Of America Special Exhibitions Gallery from March 2023 to March 2024.

“We are excited to announce that on Mar. 24, 2023, our museum will debut a major, thought-provoking exhibition, “Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures,'” the museum’s social media team wrote about the exhibit on Nov. 11. The IG post featured a photo of Chadwick’s legendary Black Panther suit from the groundbreaking 2018 Marvel film.

“One of the highlights of this new exhibition will be the #BlackPanther hero costume worn by the late Chadwick Boseman, pictured here,” the post’s caption said. “The exhibition will also utilize select objects to elevate stories that speak to Black liberation and social equality, such as Trayvon Martin’s flight suit from Experience Aviation and his childhood dream of being an astronaut.”

The museum also credited Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Company for gifting the special suit.

Chadwick tragically passed away from colon cancer back in 2020. The news of his death rocked the entertainment industry, Black Panther fans, and supporters of the actor himself. In 2021, the famed historically Black college Howard University–his alma mater–renamed their College Of Fine Arts after him. As Sis2Sis reported

at the time, Howard and Walt Disney Co.’s executive chairman, Bob Iger, were set to raise money for the state-of-the-art campus building and begin fundraising for an endowment named after Chadwick.
