Cardi B Makes Surprise Visit To Former Bronx Middle School, Donates $100K

"I'm extremely proud to be from the Bronx," she said in a speech at the school.

Award-winning rapper Cardi B recently made a surprise visit to her former middle school in the Bronx, I.S. 232, and donated $100,000.

According to ABC7, Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, made the thoughtful donation during her surprise visit to I.S. 232 on Sept. 13. The Bronx native reportedly stopped by to celebrate the new school year, alongside New York City Schools Chancellor David Banks and Community Capacity Development’s founder and executive director, K. Bain.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cardi B back home to I.S. 232 in the Bronx, and we are so grateful for her generous contribution to her alma mater,” Banks said.

During her visit, Cardi gave a motivational speech to excited students and answered their questions. She then shocked them, as well as school officials, with a $100,000 donation.

“I’m extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still. So when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help,” she said.

The 29-year-old continued saying, “I was looking at some areas. The way that the prices soar up…like how are people surviving? I want to know. My family and my friends, they’re so grateful to have me, but it’s just like, what happens to people who don’t have a me?”

Cardi’s good deeds have arrived amidst seemingly endless Twitter drama that has been going on for a few weeks. She recently hopped on the social media app to send shots at anyone she feels is talking about her but not actually dropping her name in their tweets.

“This s**t is tiring, old, and redundant. Same formula, DIFFERENT YEAR start chaos, drama, and then promote their s**t. I actually have a life outside of my house and Twitter. Until b*****s put a @ on it, [they’re] talking to their mother. Byeeee,” the rapper wrote on Sept. 12.
