BOSS Rick Ross Says Drake Is In The ‘Two Percentile’ With Him And Jay-Z

Drake is in the big leagues, according to hardcore rapper Rick Ross.

Boss Ross sat with Drink Champ podcast hosts N.O.R.E and Dj EFN to discuss his thoughts on other rappers. The episode aired on Saturday.

When asked to choose between Lil Wayne and Drake, Ross picked Wayne, aka Wheezy. But Ross gave the “God’s Plan” rapper his props, claiming

he was a part of the “two percentile” with him and Jay-Z.

“Two percentile” refers to the top rappers who can write music on the spot.

“Me and Drizzy, our relationship most definitely is real close,” Ross said. “Imma be honest, I don’t know how much music we got because it’s so easy working with the homie. We in the two percentile when it comes to writers and creators. It’s called the two percentile.”

He explained what he meant, “But the two percentile is when you walk into the room, you hear something — a beat or a production —that you actually love and can actually create it, write it and execute it right then. I can’t say I’ve done that with many artists. It’s not even five artists.”

Rick Ross continued, “[Drake]’s in the two percentile
me being in the game over 20 years
And Imma be honest, I understand when you working with Rozay, you don’t want that type of pressure on you. You come to the studio with me, it’s very few people that’s comfortable enough to listen to a beat, take my direction from it and create something in that moment, record it right then and stand on it.”

N.O.R.E and DJ EFN agreed that Wheezy could do the same, and Ross agreed. When asked to name another rapper in the two percentile group, he mentioned Jay-Z.

“And the reason I take my hat off to HOV, you see me, that’s my guy,” he said. “HOV, I felt you, n***a. You did it, I got it.”

N.O.R.E asked if he meant on the hot track “God Did,”

featuring Wheezy, DJ Khaled, Jay-Z, John Legend and Fridayy. Ross declined, clarifying he was referring to the song “Free Mason,” released in 2010.

He shared the story of when Jay-Z allowed him to play his “Free Mason” verse backstage right before he took the stage at Madison Square Garden during his tour. That’s when the “N***as in Paris” hitmaker spit out his verse without needing a second to write it.
