She is set to become one of the first Black women to own a hotel in the area.

Big Freedia, the Queen of Bounce, is set to make history in the vibrant city of New Orleans.

According to Afrotech, Freedia will soon become one of the city’s first Black hotel owners.

The venue, Hotel Freedia, which will be located in the heart of New Orleans between Decatur and Frenchmen streets, will include a hotel, nightclub, and restaurant.

Freedia made the announcement on Instagram Wednesday writing,  “Hotel Freedia coming soon, ya’ll! Boutique luxury hotel, restaurant, swim club, and live music venue!! I’m so excited about this y’all, there will finally be a place you can come taste my food, see a show, take a swim, and relax in our beautiful rooms, right off Frenchmen street. This dream of mine has been in the works for a long time, I’ll be one of the first black hotel owners in New Orleans. Will keep y’all posted on the official opening date, can’t wait to see y’all at Hotel Freedia.”

Freedia’s goal is to create a hub for music and entertainment in the city, and provide a space where visitors can immerse themselves in the culture and history of New Orleans.

Eater NOLA reports that the hotel will also offer membership through Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). NFTs are unique digital assets that cannot be replicated or replaced, making them valuable and highly sought after. Members will have exclusive access to events and experiences, as well as access to the hotel’s restaurant, nightclub, and other amenities.

According to Rolling Stone, Freedia plans to open the hotel during Mardi Gras 2024. The timing could not be more perfect, as Mardi Gras is one of the biggest events in New Orleans, attracting millions of visitors from all over the world. The hotel is expected to be a popular destination for Mardi Gras celebrants, who are looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Congratulations, Freedia!
