Anthony Anderson Agrees To Paying Estranged Wife Spousal Support

Alvina Anderson originally filed for divorce in 2015 before dismissing it, and then refiled a second time on March 25.

A report from PEOPLE details that Anthony Anderson has given in to his estranged wife, Alvina Anderson, requesting spousal support.

The amount has not been determined but will be once the former lovers share their financial information. A forensic accountant will thoroughly investigate their individual finances. Alvina solicited the court to “exercise its jurisdiction” and make the spousal support orders retroactive to March 1, 2022 “or the date of their separation, whichever is later.”

However, The Black-ish actor’s attorneys objected, arguing the spousal support shouldn’t be retroactive before June 1, 2022.

Spousal support is only pertinent to couples who are separated and amid a divorce, which applies to the ex-couple. Sis2Sis previously reported that Alvina first filed for divorce from Anthony in 2015, citing the two had irreconcilable differences and requested spousal support. In 2017, the estranged wife filed to dismiss the petition. She filed for divorce a second time on March 25, citing the same reason.

During their divorce process, the two agreed to sell their Encino, California, property and share the profits from the sale equally. The court also arranged for Anthony to co-sign a 12-month lease with Alvina “so that she may secure alternate housing.”

The comedian and Alvina were together for 22 years. The Kangaroo Jack actor discussed on The Tonight Show in 2018 how the two met.

“My sophomore year [1989], her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that [me] and my buddies were having,” the 51-year-old actor recalled. “My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did—and we have been together ever since that night. And I was just me: I got there early, she didn’t see anybody else, she was, ‘All right, I’m gonna rock out with this dude!’ We got married on our 10-year anniversary [September 1999].”

The estranged couple shares two grown children.
