Detroit’s daughter is finally returning home. Anita Baker is set to perform in the city that launched her career.
Anita tweeted early Wednesday that she was bringing her show to Motor City.
“DETROIT JULY 22,2022, Little Caesars Arena. Ticket Link Tomorrow June (1) On Sale, Friday, June 3rd, via Ticket Master, Only.
Been sO Long
ABXO”
Tickets are slated to go on sale via Ticket Master on Friday, and Anita will give the best that she has at Little Caesar’s Arena. Considering that the “Sweet Love” songstress hasn’t performed in Detroit since 2008 at the Motor City Casino Sound Board, fans on social media were quick to welcome the 64-year-old contralto back with open arms.
Even The Roots drummer-extraordinaire Quest Love chimed in, contemplating that he might get in on the homecoming concert.
“Uh…..I MIGHT come to this one,’ he wrote.
Detroiters have seemingly forgiven Anita for snubbing the Motor City after she announced a farewell tour in 2018 that left her hometown family in the cold.
Fans were equally vocal about the “Just Because” singer not including Detroit in the list of cities.
The Detroit show announcement falls fresh on the heels of Anita’s highly-successful Las Vegas residency.
In February, she announced the residency via Twitter.
“Las Vegas May 2022. They’ve Invited Us BAAACK!! ABXO,” she wrote.
Anita’s homecoming concert appears to be on track for the same reception.
