Anita Baker Surprised With A Bouquet Of Roses By Her ‘Nephew’ Usher During ‘The Songstress’ Tour

We love their dynamic!

R&B singer Usher surprised Anita Baker with a bouquet of roses on the second leg of The Songstress tour on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Video captured the “Love in This Club” singer approaching Baker in the middle of her performing “Same Ole Love (365 Days A Year),” released in 1986. Usher then descended to one knee, earning cheers from the crowd. Usher stood up and kissed his “favorite auntie” on the cheek. Baker turned to the audience and said, “My nephew never fails.”

Baker accepted the roses and handed the microphone to Usher, who began to sing a few bars of the song while dancing around the stage with her.

The two have had some wholesome auntie-nephew dynamic moments shared all over social media despite not actually being related to each other by blood.

In one video Usher posted on Oct. 15, 2022, Baker sang “Happy Birthday” to the “Confessions” singer and made a toast to him.

“The icon Anita Baker! My favorite auntie, thank you for this surprise bday moment,” he wrote in the caption, adding, “You got me!”

A video posted to Twitter on Sept. 5, 2022, showed Usher serenading Baker with “Superstar.”

Baker began The Songstress tour on Feb. 11, in Hollywood, FL, at Hard Rock Live, the guitar hotel. Friday, Feb. 17, she performs in New Orleans and will take a break for about three months before continuing the tour in Newark, New Jersey.

Joining her on tour is the iconic romance king, Babyface.

Tickets are still available for grabs on Ticketmaster.
