Angela Bassett Gets Wax Figure That Actually Looks Like Her

Angela Bassett has a new wax figure at Madame Tussauds Los Angeles, and it looks like her. She and other notable Black actresses have finally been immortalized by wax, and the resemblance is uncanny.

On Friday, the museum tweeted the news with heart-eye emojis.

“The wait to exhale is over. The Queen of Wakanda herself, Angela Bassett, has arrived! The ageless icon has been officially immortalized by Madame Tussauds Hollywood.”

The wax figure is so good that Bassett was amazed, and she responded just like most of our aunties would.

“Oh, Lord! I’m a twin!” she exclaimed. “Oh my God! It’s so lifelike,” she continued.

We can understand her shock. In the past, the public has seen some wax figures that looked nothing like the people they were supposed to emulate.

For example, we will never forgive Paris’s Musée Grévin for how they butchered the iconic Naomi Campbell’s figure.

Thankfully, the sculptor responsible for Bassett’s figure was competent and captured the 63-year-old actress flawlessly.

Angela Bassett is an icon, not only in Black cinema but all cinema. In 1994, she was nominated for the Oscar for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It. She should have won, but someone white did instead. She has also been nominated for seven Primetime Emmys.

Earlier this week, Tiffany Haddish had her wax figure revealed at the Las Vegas location. On Sept. 13, Jennifer Hudson celebrated her 40th birthday by unveiling her figure at the famous wax museum’s New York location.
