Abbott Elementary Renewed For A Second Season At ABC

The show's fictional principal announced the exciting news via Twitter.

Hit sitcom, Abbott Elementary, has been renewed for a second season at mainstream network television channel ABC.

The show’s fictional school official, Principal Ava Coleman, released a very cute statement via their official Twitter page.

“The camera crew I hired to showcase all that I’ve made happen at our beautiful school thinks I’m a star. I mean, are we surprised? No, we’re not :). With that said, it is with great pleasure that I share they’ll be returning for the 2022-2023 school year! That’s right – Abbott Elementary

Season Two is coming to a screen near you.”

She also asked fans to support DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that enables people to donate supplies to local teachers.

“Despite my being a natural in front of the camera, these things don’t come for free, and my staff is having trouble seeing all of my unleashed potential! Something about needing supplies? Anywho, I could use your help getting them (Janine) off my back. If you’re interested in supporting them and our community of young mind shapers, please visit DonorsChoose.org.”

According to reports, Abbott Elementary became ABC’s first top-rated series since their popular show Modern Family ended in 2020. The stellar comedy, starring Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Tyler James Williams, has followed the hardworking staff of a Philadelphia public school in need of funding. It was created by comedian and actress Quinta Brunson and debuted on Dec. 27, 2021.

Recently, Brunson sat down for an interview with TODAY on Mar. 16, where she talked about the popularity of her show, among other things.

“What is it about [the show] that you think caught people?” host Hoda Kotb asked her.

“I think there’s a couple of things. One thing is that ABC did a really cool thing and premiered an episode a month before the pilot, and I think that gave people time to watch it over the winter break,” she said. “Besides that, I’ve heard people say…that they can’t wait for Tuesday night to watch Abbott because they wanna have a good time, watch something with the family,” she responded.

Abbott Elementary will return with brand new episodes on Mar. 22.
