50 Cent, STARZ, And ‘Power’ Creator Sued For $1 Billion For Allegedly Stealing The Idea For The Show From A Drug Kingpin’s Album

We'll have to see how the mediation pans out.

Rapper 50 Cent can’t seem to catch a break from lawsuits. In 2021, the hitmaker was slapped with a $1 billion lawsuit from a former drug bigwig who alleged that the rapper based the show Power on his life.

According to HotNewHipHop, the plaintiff, Corey “Ghost” Holland Sr, filed a lawsuit against the “In Da Club” rapper, STARZ network and series creator Courtney Kemp for alleged intellectual property theft.

In the lawsuit, Holland alleged that Kemp got the idea for Power from his CD “Blasphemy.” He said he sent his CD to Kemp’s father in 2007, enabling Kemp to use it as inspiration for the show. He firmly believes the seven songs on “Blasphemy” emulate Power‘s seasons and the first two seasons of the show’s spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost

Power came out in 2014 and ended in 2020. The lawsuit emerged a year later.

Holland added in the lawsuit that 50 Cent popped up at his house and attempted to fight him after he filed the case, though that part has yet to be confirmed.

The court ordered both parties to resolve the issue through mediation since 50 Cent’s legal team hadn’t responded to the suit. The outlet reported that mediation was set for May.

The rapper also has an ongoing lawsuit against him for the acronym he used for his show Black Mafia Family (BMF). A man named Bryon Belin wrote in the lawsuit that he trademarked BMF for his TV service-selling business and said it wasn’t fair that the rapper was profiting off the acronym since he didn’t own the rights to the trademark.

50 Cent hasn’t addressed his latest lawsuit publicly on his social media platform. The legal issue he has posted on his social media so the one he won after an employee stole millions from him.

It’s too early to tell how this case is going to go.
