30-Year-Old is the Youngest Black Woman to Own a McDonald’s Franchise

Jade Ashley Colin is the youngest Black woman to own a McDonald’s having begun her career with the Fortune 500 Company while still in school.

A native of New Orleans, Colin became familiar with the franchise as the daughter of McDonald’s franchise owners.

“Colin began her career with the Golden Arches while attending the University of Louisiana,” says Black Business

After graduating in 2012 with a degree in business management and completing McDonald’s Next Generation training program, she became a manager of the family franchise. In 2016, at age 26, Colin made history by becoming the youngest Black woman to own a franchise of the company.

“My business is truly a blessing,” Colin tells The Black Professional. “It was never something I would have ever thought I would be doing.”

Four years after getting her own franchise, Colin she grows her business and serves her community. She provides job opportunities for Black people, supports local organizations and has fed first responders and medical staff during the pandemic.

In an Afrotech report, Colin says, “As an African American community, we need more men and women to know that it’s not just about right now, but it’s about the generations to come.”
